Find the right category in just a few steps, with a short explanation based on intended use and tips on frame shape, motor and range.
Key basics
Frame shapes
The frame shape determines mounting/dismounting , riding position and the riding feel .
Wave / low step-through: maximum comfort & safety when getting on. Very upright position.Great for: everyday use, city riding, relaxed tours, if you want to be kind to hips/back. Trapeze: balanced mix of comfort and stability. Slightly sportier than Wave.Great for: mixed routes, touring, if you want comfort and a more direct feel. Diamond: classic/sporty with high frame stiffness. Efficient power transfer.Great for: faster riding, longer tours, more luggage/trailer. Tip: Choose based on comfort when mounting/dismounting and your preferred riding position (upright = more relaxed back, sportier = more efficient over distance).
Motor & drivetrain
The motor helps when starting off, on climbs and on longer distances. Key rule-of-thumb values:
Torque (Nm): 40–55 Nm = city & flat, 60–75 Nm = touring & mixed, 80+ Nm = hills, luggage, cargo.Assist levels: Higher level = easier pedalling, but more battery use. Eco saves, Turbo helps uphill.Gearing: hub gears/belt = low maintenance & clean; derailleur gears/chain = sporty & wide gear range.Tyres/suspension: Wider tyres and (front) suspension increase comfort & traction – ideal for SUVs/rougher paths.Quick pick: Flat commuting → 50–60 Nm • Touring/weekends → 60–75 Nm • Hills/Cargo → 80+ Nm.
Battery & range
A larger battery means more range – and slightly more weight. Real-world values depend on terrain, temperature, payload and assist mode.
Capacity (Wh) & rough real-world figures: 400–500 Wh ≈ 40–80 km • 545–625 Wh ≈ 60–110 km • 700–800 Wh ≈ 80–140 km Removable vs. integrated: Removable = convenient charging indoors; integrated = very clean look.Charging time: Depending on the charger, approx. 3–5 hrs from 0–100% (faster with a fast charger).Increase range: Pedal steadily, check tyre pressure, use higher gears, use Eco/Tour.Everyday recommendation: up to 20 km/day → 500 Wh • 20–40 km → 545–625 Wh • 40 km+ or lots of climbing → 700–800 Wh.
