Range: how far can I travel on one battery charge?

Here you’ll find practical reference values by battery size & assistance level, the key factors that affect range, and concrete saving tips for more miles.
Key essentials
What affects range?
  • Assistance level & riding style: Higher level = more comfort, but less range. Anticipatory riding saves energy.
  • Topography & wind: Hills, headwinds and off-road increase consumption.
  • Temperature: <10 °C can noticeably reduce range.
  • Tyres & pressure: Wide, knobbly tyres and low pressure cost miles.
  • Weight & load: Rider + luggage/cargo directly affect consumption.
Rule of thumb: Everyday consumption often 6–12 Wh/km (Eco more efficient, Turbo higher).

Values assume mixed terrain, moderate pace, correctly inflated tyres and mild temperatures. Cargo/off-road/winter = less.

Tip
More range day to day
Lower level (Tour→Eco), cadence 70–90 rpm, gentle acceleration, check tyre pressure.
Plan for wind & hills
Rides > 80 km
Start early, mix Eco/riding modes, top up during breaks (café/work), consider range extender/second battery.
Pack the charger
Keep winter range stable
Store battery warm, fit shortly before riding; moderate pace/level, recharge soon after arrival.
Tyres with good grip
Ride with cargo/children
Choose higher tyre pressure, set off smoothly, raise level briefly on climbs, otherwise Tour/Eco.
Test ride with load
Back-of-the-envelope formula: Range ≈ Battery (Wh) ÷ Consumption (Wh/km). Example: 625 Wh ÷ 8 Wh/km ≈ 78 km.
Frequently asked questions & troubleshooting
My range is much lower – what should I do?
Increase tyre pressure, lower the level, clean/oil the chain (or clean the belt), account for headwinds/hills, charge the battery at room temperature.
Is frequent charging harmful?
No, partial charging is fine. Day-to-day aim for 20–80 %; for long rides you can charge to 100 %. Avoid deep discharge.
Does a larger battery always mean more range?
Yes, but it’s heavier. If you often ride hilly/cargo or plan long tours, 725–900 Wh is worth it.
